Well, hello there, everyone! Today, I’m gonna tell ya how to make this here… uh… bacon cheddar apple quiche. Yeah, that’s it. Fancy name, but it ain’t hard to make, trust me. My ol’ hands can do it, so can yours.
First off, ya gotta get yourself a pie crust. Now, you can make your own if you’re feelin’ fancy, but store-bought works just fine. I ain’t got time for all that fussin’ around, so I always just buy one. Make sure it’s for a deep dish pie, though, cause we’re gonna stuff this thing good.
Next up, the bacon. Oh, honey, get the good stuff. Thick-cut, smoky bacon. Fry it up in a pan till it’s nice and crispy. Don’t burn it, now! Then, crumble it up into little pieces. You know, like how you do for… uh… for when you put it on them baked potatoes. Yeah, just like that.
- Get yourself about six slices of that good bacon, mind you. Six should do ya just fine.
- Fry ‘em up real good, but not too crispy, see?
- Chop ‘em up, not too big, not too small, just right.
Alright, now for the apples. I like to use a mix of sweet and tart apples, gives it a nice flavor, you know? Peel ‘em, core ‘em, and chop ‘em up into small pieces. Not too small, though, you still want to be able to taste ‘em. I usually use about… oh, I don’t know… maybe two big apples? Yeah, that sounds about right. Two big ol’ apples.
And the cheese! Can’t forget the cheese. We’re using cheddar, good ol’ sharp cheddar. Shred it up yourself, don’t buy that pre-shredded stuff, it ain’t got no flavor. You’ll need a good… handful… no, two handfuls! Yeah, two big handfuls of shredded cheddar. And if you’re feeling extra cheesy, you can throw in a little bit of… what’s that fancy cheese called? Swiss? Yeah, a little bit of Swiss, too.
Now, for the egg part. Crack a bunch of eggs into a bowl. How many? Oh, I don’t know… maybe six? Yeah, six eggs. Whisk ‘em up real good with a fork. Then, add in some milk. Just regular milk, not that skim stuff. And a little bit of cream, if you got it. Makes it extra rich and creamy, you know? Just pour it in, I don’t measure nothing, just eyeball it. You want it to be… well, you know… eggy and milky. Not too thick, not too thin.
Mix it all together in a big bowl. The bacon, the apples, the cheese, and the egg mixture. Stir it up real good, make sure everything is coated. Then, pour it into that pie crust we talked about earlier. And don’t be shy, fill it right up to the top! We ain’t skimpin’ here.
Now, bake it in the oven. I usually put it at… what is it? 350 degrees? Yeah, 350 degrees. For how long? Oh, I don’t know, till it’s done! Probably about… 45 minutes? Maybe an hour? Just keep an eye on it. You want the crust to be golden brown and the filling to be set. You can stick a knife in the middle, and if it comes out clean, it’s done.
Let it cool down for a bit before you cut into it. Otherwise, it’ll just fall apart. And nobody wants a messy quiche. This ain’t no soup, ya know. Serve it up warm, and there ya go! Bacon cheddar apple quiche. Perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. My grandkids love it, and I bet yours will too. It’s a real crowd-pleaser, this one.
And don’t you worry about fancy spices and stuff. Salt and pepper, that’s all you need. Maybe a little bit of… what’s that stuff… nutmeg? Yeah, a little pinch of nutmeg, if you like. But don’t go overboard. Just a pinch. We don’t want it tastin’ like no… Christmas cookie.
Some folks, they like to add other things to their quiche. Like onions, or peppers, or… what else? Spinach? But I like to keep it simple. Bacon, cheddar, and apples. That’s all you need. It’s a classic combination, and it always tastes good. You know, it’s like… comfort food. Warms ya right up on a cold day.
Now, I ain’t no fancy chef, I’m just an old woman who likes to cook. But I know good food when I taste it. And this bacon cheddar apple quiche, it’s good food. So go on, give it a try. You won’t be disappointed. And if it doesn’t turn out perfect the first time, don’t you worry. Just keep practicin’. You’ll get the hang of it. Cooking ain’t nothin’ but followin’ your heart and your taste buds. Now, go on, get cookin’! And don’t forget to clean up your mess afterwards! A clean kitchen is a happy kitchen, that’s what I always say.
