How to cooking green beans on the grill in tin foil perfectly (Step by step recipe here)

Today, I gonna tell you how to cook them green beans on that grill outside, wrap ’em in tin foil. It ain’t hard, even old me can do it, so you can too. This way, you get that smoky taste, and they don’t dry out like my old boots.

First, you gotta get them green beans. Fresh ones from the garden are best, but store-bought ones work too. Just make sure they ain’t too old, you know? They should be a nice bright green, not all droopy and sad-looking. If they’re too long, just snap ’em in half. Ain’t no sense cooking the whole long thing if you don’t need to.

Now, wash them beans real good. Get all that dirt and whatever else off ’em. Nobody wants to eat dirt, not even the pigs. After you wash ’em, let ’em dry a bit. You don’t want too much water when you put ’em in the foil.

Next, get your tin foil. Tear off a big piece, big enough to hold all them beans. Tin foil is important, it keeps all the good stuff inside. Lay the beans in the middle of the foil. Don’t pile ’em too high, or they won’t cook even.

Now for the fun part – the seasonings! You can put whatever you like on them beans. Me, I like to keep it simple. A little salt, some pepper, maybe some of that garlic powder. That garlic powder, it’s good on everything! And don’t be afraid to use the garlic salt, or the onion salt, if you have it. You can’t get enough of the seasonings. If you like it spicy, throw in some of that red pepper. Just a pinch, though, unless you want your mouth on fire!

Some folks like to put a little butter in there too. Makes ’em real tasty. Just a little, though. Don’t need to be swimming in it, you hear? Butter make all things good, this is what I always say to my grandchildren. You also can put a little water, like a spoon, in the tin foil. That’ll help ’em steam up real nice.

Once you got all your goodies on the beans, fold up that foil. Fold it over once, then fold in the sides. You want it sealed up tight, like a little package. Like you’re wrapping a present for your favorite grandchild. Make sure there ain’t no holes, or all that steam will get out. And you need that steam to cook them beans.

  • Get your green beans, wash ’em good
  • Tear off a big piece of tin foil
  • Put the beans in the foil, add seasonings like salt, pepper, garlic powder, or butter
  • Fold up the foil tight, make sure no steam can get out
  • Put the foil packet on the hot grill

Now, get that grill going. You want it nice and hot. Not too hot, though, or you’ll burn them beans to a crisp. Medium heat is what I always use, it is just about right. Once it’s hot, put that foil packet right on the grill grates. Now, don’t put the tin foil directly to cover the whole grill grates, that ain’t good. You want the air to move around. That is important. And you can make some little holes on the tin foil, let the steam get out a little bit.

Let them beans cook for a while. Maybe 15, 20 minutes. Depends on how hot your grill is and how many beans you got in there. Just keep an eye on ’em. You can always open up the foil a little and peek inside. Just be careful, that steam is hot! Don’t burn yourself like I did last summer. That was a mess, let me tell you.

When they’re done, them beans should be nice and tender. Not mushy, but not hard either. Just right. If they’re still a little hard, just wrap ’em back up and let ’em cook some more. Better than undercooked.

When they’re cooked, take them beans off the grill. Be careful, that foil will be hot! Let ’em cool down a bit before you open ’em up. You don’t want to burn your tongue, do you? And them grilled green beans gonna be real hot!

Once they’re cool enough to handle, open up that foil and dig in! Them green beans should be nice and flavorful, with that smoky taste from the grill. Serve ’em up with whatever you’re having. They go good with just about anything. Chicken, fish, even just a big ol’ plate of mashed potatoes.

So there you have it. That’s how you cook green beans on the grill in tin foil. It ain’t rocket science. Just good, simple cooking. Even you can do it. Now go on, get grilling! And remember, don’t be stingy with that garlic powder. It makes everything taste better!

And if you are too lazy to fire up the grill, you can always steam the green beans. You just need a big pot, put some water in it, maybe one inch or so. Then you need a steamer basket. Put the green beans in the basket, put the basket in the pot, cover it with a lid. Easy peasy.
