Alright, let’s talk about this peanut butter and icing fudge. You know, the kind that makes your teeth hurt but you just can’t stop eatin’. I ain’t no fancy baker or nothin’, but I know what tastes good, and this here fudge is good, real good.
First off, you gotta get yourself some stuff. Peanut butter, the creamy kind, not that chunky stuff, unless you like it that way, I ain’t judgin’. Then you need some icing, the kind you put on cakes. I like the vanilla kind, but you can use chocolate or whatever you got. And sugar, lots of sugar. This ain’t no health food, ya know.
- Peanut Butter – Creamy is best.
- Icing – Vanilla, chocolate, whatever you like.
- Sugar – Gotta make it sweet!
- Butter – Makes it smooth.
- A bit of milk – To get the right mix.
Now, the makin’ part. It ain’t hard, even I can do it, and that’s sayin’ somethin’. You melt some butter in a big pot, then you dump in the sugar and the milk. Stir it up good till the sugar’s gone, don’t want no crunchy bits. Then you add the peanut butter and the icing. Stir it all together till it’s smooth and shiny like a new penny.
Here’s the important part, listen up. You gotta cook it slow, low and slow like my old stove. If you cook it too fast, it’ll burn, and then you’ll have a mess and no fudge. Nobody wants that. You keep stirrin’ and stirrin’, and make sure it don’t stick to the bottom. That happened once, and let me tell ya, cleaning that pot was a nightmare. Scraped and scraped, I did, and still couldn’t get it all off. Learned my lesson that day, I did.
Once it’s all cooked and thick, you pour it into a pan. Now, don’t go usin’ no fancy pan, any old pan will do. I use an old bread pan, works just fine. Spread it out even, then you gotta let it cool. This is the hard part, waitin’. It smells so good, you just wanna dig in, but you gotta wait. If you don’t wait, it’ll be all gooey and messy.
I usually let it sit overnight, but if you’re in a hurry, you can stick it in the fridge for a few hours. Once it’s cool and hard, you cut it into squares. Now, you can cut it big or small, it don’t matter. I like ‘em big, so I can get a good bite. And that’s it! Peanut butter and icing fudge, easy as pie, well, easier than pie, actually. Pie’s kinda hard to make.
Peanut butter fudge is a good thing to bring to a party or a potluck, everybody loves it. Kids go crazy for it, and the grown-ups too. It’s sweet and rich and it just makes you feel good. It’s the perfect thing for when you’ve got a sweet tooth or when you just need a little somethin’ to pick you up. You know, like when the garden ain’t growin’ or the chickens ain’t layin’.
And the best part is, you can change it up. If you want, you can add some nuts, like chopped peanuts or walnuts. Or you can add some chocolate chips or sprinkles. You can even drizzle some melted chocolate on top. It’s your fudge, you can do whatever you want with it. I tried adding some them marshmallows once, thought it’d be real fancy like. Turned out alright, a bit too sweet if you ask me, but the grandkids loved it, and that’s all that matters.
Now, some folks might tell you to use a candy thermometer and all that fancy stuff, but I don’t bother with that. I just cook it till it looks right, you know, thick and bubbly. And if it don’t turn out perfect, who cares? It’ll still taste good. That’s the thing about homemade stuff, it don’t gotta be perfect, it just gotta be made with love, or at least a good amount of sugar.
So there you have it, my recipe for peanut butter and icing fudge. It ain’t fancy, but it’s good, and it’s easy. Give it a try, I bet you’ll like it. And if you don’t, well, more for me.
Remember, keep stirrin’ so it don’t stick, cook it slow, and don’t be afraid to experiment. Maybe you’ll come up with somethin’ even better than mine. But if you do, don’t forget to share!
Now go on and make some fudge, you won’t regret it. And if you need any help, you just come on over, and I’ll show ya. I always got a pot brewin’ and a story to tell.
