Alright, alright, lemme tell ya about this here drink, the Grateful Dead. Don’t ask me why they call it that, sounds kinda spooky if ya ask me, like somethin’ a ghost would drink. But hey, it’s a real popular one, so I guess it can’t be all that bad.
Now, I ain’t no fancy bartender, ya hear? I just make drinks the way I learned ’em, simple and strong. This Grateful Dead though, it’s got a whole bunch of stuff in it. Enough to make your head spin, that’s for sure!
First off, you gotta get yourself some liquor. Lots of it. We’re talkin’ tequila, that Mexican stuff, then some vodka, the clear one. And gin, that kinda piney-smellin’ one. Oh, and rum, the pirate drink! See, I told ya, it’s a lot. They say you need a little bit of each, maybe a shot or so, I dunno, I just eyeball it.
- Tequila
- Vodka
- Gin
- Rum
Then comes the sweet stuff, to make it go down easier, ya know? You need some of that raspberry liquor. It’s red and smells like candy, but don’t let it fool ya, it’s still got a kick. And somethin’ called triple sec, which is orange-y kinda, I think. It all goes in there together.
Now, for the sour part, you need somethin’ called sour mix. You can buy it at the store, or you can make it yourself with lemons and limes and sugar. I just buy it, ain’t nobody got time for squeezin’ all them lemons! Just pour it in, not too much, not too little. You gotta get a feel for it, ya know?
Some folks, they put somethin’ called blue curacao in it too. Makes it all blue and pretty. I don’t always have that stuff around, so I just skip it sometimes. Doesn’t change the taste much, just the color.
Alright, so you got all your booze in there. Now what? Well, you gotta mix it up! You can shake it in a shaker thingy, if you got one. Or you can just stir it up real good with a spoon, that’s what I do. Just make sure it’s all mixed up good, so you don’t get a big gulp of just tequila or somethin’.
Then you pour it in a tall glass, with some ice. Lots of ice, cause this drink is strong and you don’t wanna be drinkin’ it warm. You can put a little cherry or somethin’ on top if you wanna be fancy, but I ain’t got time for that. Just drink it!
Now, let me tell ya, this Grateful Dead drink, it’ll sneak up on ya. It tastes so sweet and fruity, you might think it ain’t strong. But trust me, it is. One or two of these, and you’ll be feelin’ it. So don’t go drinkin’ too many, unless you wanna end up dancin’ on the table or somethin’. Not that I’ve ever done that… well, maybe once or twice.
This drink ain’t for the faint of heart, I tell ya. It’s got a lot of kick, and it’ll make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. But be careful, cause too much of this stuff, and you’ll be feelin’ more than fuzzy, ya hear? You’ll be feelin’ like a dead… well, you know what I mean.
So that’s it, that’s the Grateful Dead drink. It ain’t rocket science, just a bunch of liquor mixed together. But it sure is tasty, and it’ll get the party started, that’s for sure. Just remember to drink responsibly, or you might end up with a headache the size of a watermelon.
And that’s all there is to it. Go on, try it yourself, but don’t blame me if you wake up with a fuzzy head and a hankerin’ for a greasy breakfast! You’ve been warned.
