Quick Sausage Casserole: Cream Cheese and Simple Steps

Alright, listen up, y’all! Today, we’re gonna talk about this here sausage casserole cream cheese thing. I ain’t no fancy cook, mind you, but this thing, well, it’s so easy even I can make it. And let me tell ya, it feeds a whole bunch of hungry mouths, perfect for when the whole family comes a-callin’.

So, what’s in it? Not much, really. You got your sausage, that’s the main thing. Get the good kind, you know, the one with some flavor. Then you need some cream cheese. The block kind, not that whipped stuff. And that’s pretty much it for the basics! Can you believe it? Three things! Makes me laugh, all these fancy recipes with a hundred ingredients, and this here thing is just as good, maybe better.

Quick Sausage Casserole: Cream Cheese and Simple Steps
  • Sausage, get the good kind
  • Cream cheese, the block kind, not that whipped stuff

Now, how do you make it? Easy peasy. First, you gotta cook that sausage. Brown it up real good in a pan. Drain off all that grease, you don’t want a greasy mess. Then, you just plop that cooked sausage into a casserole dish. You know, one of them big ol’ baking dishes. I got this old one, it’s seen better days, but it still works just fine.

Next, you take that cream cheese and cut it up into little cubes. Don’t gotta be perfect, just chunk it up. Spread them cream cheese chunks all over the sausage in the dish. Now, here’s where you can get fancy if you want, but you don’t have to. Some folks like to add a little milk or cream, makes it extra creamy, you see. But me? I usually just keep it simple. Sausage and cream cheese, that’s all you really need.

Once you got everything in the dish, you stick it in the oven. Now, I ain’t got one of them fancy ovens with all the buttons and settings. Mine’s just got a dial, “on” and “off” and “hot” and “hotter”. I usually set it to, oh, I don’t know, maybe 350 degrees? Give or take. You bake it for a bit, maybe 20 minutes or so, until it’s all bubbly and the cream cheese is melted and gooey.

Baking it just right is important. Sometimes I check it after about 15 minutes, see how it’s doin’. If the top ain’t brown enough, I leave it in a little longer, maybe another 8 minutes like that recipe I saw once said. Just keep an eye on it, you don’t want it to burn. And that’s it! Your sausage casserole cream cheese thing is done!

This sausage casserole cream cheese thing is good for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I mostly make it for breakfast, especially when the grandkids come over. They love it! Heck, even my old man likes it, and he don’t like much of nothin’ these days. You can serve it with some biscuits or toast, maybe some scrambled eggs on the side. Or just eat it plain, straight out of the dish. I ain’t judgin’.

And you know what else? You can add other stuff to it if you want. Some folks put in onions or peppers, or even some shredded cheese. I tried it with some jalapenos once, gave it a nice little kick. But honestly, it’s good just the way it is, plain and simple. That’s how I like it.

So, there you have it. My recipe, if you can even call it that, for sausage casserole cream cheese. It ain’t fancy, it ain’t pretty, but it’s good, and it’s easy. And sometimes, that’s all that matters. Give it a try, you might just like it. And if you don’t, well, more for me!

Now, I gotta go, the chickens need feedin’. You all have a good day now, ya hear? And don’t forget to try that sausage thing, it’s a real winner.
