Conan OBriens Late Night Journey: From SNL to TBS

Alright, let’s talk about this fella, Corn… somethin’, Corn O’Brien, yeah, that’s the name. He was on that TV thing late at night, you know, the one with all the talkin’. Been doin’ it for donkey’s years, almost thirty, they say. That’s a long time to be yappin’ on TV, I tell ya.

First off, he wasn’t always the big cheese. Seems like some other fellas were doin’ the talkin’ before him, Jay somethin’ and that Letterman guy. Then, this Corn fella, he got a chance on some show called “Late Night.” A fella named Lorne, he picked Corn outta the bunch. Corn was just a young whippersnapper then, about thirty or so.

Conan OBriens Late Night Journey: From SNL to TBS
  • He started on this “Late Night” show. Talked and talked, made folks laugh, I guess.
  • Then, he went off to some other place, TBS they call it. Had his own show there, just called “Conan.” Same thing, talkin’ and jokin’.
  • They even made his show shorter, half an hour instead of a whole hour. Guess folks got tired of listenin’ to him so much, ha!
  • Finally, he decided he was done. Said he wanted to do other things. Can’t blame him, I’d get tired of talkin’ all the time too.

He did his last show on that TBS, in June of 2021, they said. Wrapped it all up after all them years. Said he was gonna go do other stuff, maybe on that HBO thing. Don’t know much about that, sounds fancy.

Now, they’re sayin’ he’s one of the longest ones on TV doing that late-night talkin’. Longest one! Imagine that. Must’ve said a whole lot of words in all that time. Wonder if he ever got tired of his own voice? I know I would.

He started way back when, in the nineties, I think. That’s when my grandbaby was just a little tyke. Now she’s got kids of her own. Time sure flies, doesn’t it? And this Corn fella, he was on TV the whole time, or at least most of it.

Folks seem to like him alright, this Corn O’Brien. Made ‘em laugh, I reckon. That’s somethin’, I guess. Not everyone can do that, make people laugh. Takes a special kind of person. Or maybe just someone who talks a lot, who knows?

He was on that “Late Night” show, then he had that “Conan” show. Different names, same thing mostly. Talkin’ to folks, makin’ jokes, doin’ silly stuff sometimes. That’s what I hear, anyway. I don’t watch too much TV myself. Too busy with my own chores and such.

So, this Corn O’Brien, he’s done with the late-night talkin’ now. Movin’ on to somethin’ else. Good for him, I say. Can’t be talkin’ forever. Even I gotta shut my mouth sometimes, though that ain’t easy, ha!

Anyway, that’s the story, as far as I can tell. Corn O’Brien, talked a lot on TV, made folks laugh, and then he stopped. End of story. Now, go on and get yourself busy with somethin’ useful, listening to all this talkin’ ain’t gonna get the work done, ya know!

And they say he wants to try somethin’ new. Well, good on him. After all them years yakkin’ on TV, I guess a change is good. Hope he finds somethin’ he likes. Maybe he’ll start farmin’, now that would be somethin’, wouldn’t it? Corn O’Brien, the farmer, ha!

But seriously, it’s a big deal, this fella leavin’ TV after all that time. Like a part of the furniture movin’ out, you know? Folks get used to seein’ him on there, night after night. Now they gotta find someone else to listen to, someone new to yap at ’em. Good luck to ’em, I say.
