Today I tried something new in the kitchen – Stuffed Sole. I saw some recipes floating around, so I thought, why not give it a shot?
Get things ready
First things first, I had to get all my ingredients together. I grabbed some fresh sole fillets from the grocery store – they looked pretty good. For the stuffing, I didn’t really know what to do. There are tons of different ways to make stuffing, but I just picked up some random stuff that I thought might taste good together.
- Some breadcrumbs, because what’s stuffing without breadcrumbs, right?
- Then I got some onions and garlic – you gotta have those for flavor.
- Also, I decided to go with some shrimp, ’cause I love seafood.
- And for some herbs, I just grabbed whatever was in my fridge – parsley and a bit of thyme.
Start cooking
After that I started cooking. I chopped up the onions and garlic real fine and sautéed them in a pan with a little bit of butter. Once they were soft, I threw in the chopped-up shrimp and cooked them until they turned pink. While that was going on, I mixed the breadcrumbs with the herbs in a big bowl. Then, I just dumped the shrimp and onion mix into the bowl and stirred everything together. It was kind of like making a weird, savory porridge or something.
Stuff the fish
Next up was the fun part – stuffing the fish. I laid out the sole fillets on a cutting board and just spooned a big dollop of the stuffing onto each one. Then, I rolled them up as best as I could. Some of them looked alright, but others were kinda falling apart. I used toothpicks to hold them together – hopefully, that’ll do the trick.
Bake them
Once all the fish were rolled and stuffed, I put them in a baking dish. I poured a little bit of white wine into the bottom of the dish. Then, I covered the whole thing with foil and popped it in the oven. I baked them for like 25 minutes at 375°F, but I wasn’t really sure if that was the right time or temperature. Oh well, I just went with it.
Finished!
When the timer went off, I took the dish out of the oven and pulled off the foil. The fish looked cooked through. I plated them up and tried a bite. Actually it’s not bad! The fish was flaky, and the stuffing was pretty flavorful.
So, yeah, that’s how I made stuffed sole. It was a bit of an experiment, but it turned out okay. If you’re feeling adventurous in the kitchen, give it a try! But maybe look up an actual recipe first, unlike me.
