How to Make Garlic Ranch Sauce (Simple Tips and Tricks)

Okay, so, I’ve been messing around in the kitchen again, and this time I whipped up some garlic ranch dressing. Let me tell you, it turned out pretty darn good, if I do say so myself. Here’s how it all went down.

First things first, I gathered my ingredients. I’m a big fan of using fresh stuff whenever possible, so I grabbed some fresh garlic, chives, parsley, and dill from my little herb garden. Of course, you can use dried herbs if that’s what you have on hand, no big deal.

How to Make Garlic Ranch Sauce (Simple Tips and Tricks)

Getting Started

I started by mincing the garlic. Now, I like a good punch of garlic, so I used about three cloves, but you can adjust that to your taste. Then, I chopped up the herbs. I didn’t measure them exactly, just used about a handful of each. Threw those together into a bowl.

Next, I grabbed some mayo and sour cream – these are the base of the dressing. I used about a cup of mayo and half a cup of sour cream. Poured them into the bowl with the herbs and garlic.

Adding Buttermilk for Tang

To give it that classic ranch tang, I added some buttermilk. I probably used around a quarter cup, just enough to get the consistency I wanted. You can add more or less depending on how thick or thin you like your dressing.

Seasoning

Then came the seasoning. I kept it simple with salt and freshly ground black pepper. I’m not one for measuring spices, so I just added a pinch of salt and a few grinds of pepper, then tasted and adjusted until it was just right.

Mixing and Chilling

  • Mixing: I used a whisk to mix everything together until it was all nice and smooth.
  • Chilling: Then, I covered the bowl and popped it in the fridge for about an hour. This gives the flavors time to blend and develop.

Serving

After it had chilled, I gave it another good whisk and it was ready to go. I used it as a dressing for a big salad, but it would be great as a dip for veggies or even as a sauce for chicken or fish. It was creamy, tangy, and packed with fresh herb and garlic flavor. Definitely a winner in my book.

So, there you have it – my garlic ranch adventure. It was a simple and satisfying kitchen experiment. Give it a try, and let me know what you think!
