Alright, let’s talk about this Boston Iced Tea thing. I ain’t no fancy city gal, ya know? I just like a good drink, somethin’ that cools ya down and tastes good, especially when it’s hot as a furnace outside.
Now, I hear tell there’s all sorts of places in Boston to get yer tea. Some folks like them fancy tea rooms, like that Abigail’s place or the Courtyard Tea Room. Sounds mighty highfalutin to me. They probably got little pinky-raisin’ sandwiches and all that. Me? I just want a good, plain iced tea. Nothin’ fancy.
Heard tell there’s this Red Lobster place? They got somethin’ called Boston Iced Tea, I reckon. Folks say it’s good with seafood, which, I gotta say, I do enjoy a good piece of fried fish now and again. Never had no lobster though, too pricy for my blood. If that Boston Iced Tea there at Red Lobster is good and cold and not too sweet, then it’s alright by me. Don’t want none of that sugary stuff that makes yer teeth hurt.
Then there’s all this talk about bubble tea. What in tarnation is bubble tea anyway? Sounds like somethin’ a kid would drink, all them bubbles and whatnot. Folks all over Boston seem to like it, from Braintree to Lexington, wherever them places are. Thirteen different places they say. Seems like a lot of fuss over some bubbles to me.
- And another thing, this “MEM Tea” place, they keep poppin’ up. Must be popular, but I ain’t never been.
- Then there’s “Silver Dove Afternoon Tea” – sounds like a place for birds, not people! Afternoon tea? What happened to good ol’ lunchtime?
I tell ya, back in my day, we just had plain ol’ iced tea. Made it ourselves, brewed it strong, and sweetened it with a bit of sugar. Sometimes we’d add a lemon slice, if we had one. That was it. No fancy names, no bubbles, just good, honest tea. Nowadays, everything’s gotta be special, gotta have a long name and a high price tag.
They say there’s this “Moroccan mint iced tea” too, somewhere in Boston. Mint, huh? Sounds kinda like toothpaste. But folks say it’s hard to find a good one. Well, I reckon if it ain’t easy to find, it can’t be that important, can it? Give me a plain iced tea any day.
Some folks are talkin’ about different tea brands, like Arizona, Pure Leaf, and Lipton. Sounds like big city names to me. I just buy whatever’s on sale at the store. As long as it makes a good, strong brew, I’m happy. Don’t need no fancy labels to tell me what’s good.
And this “Soluna” place, and “Christina’s Spice & Specialty Foods” – sounds like a lot of spices and fancy stuff. I just want a plain tea, I don’t need no spices in my drink, save those for cookin’. And don’t even get me started on “The Tea Leaf” and “The Sipping Room by Breeze”. Sippin’ room? Sounds like a place where you just sit around and gossip all day. I got better things to do than sip tea and chat.
So, there you have it. My take on this Boston Iced Tea business. Fancy or plain, it’s all just tea to me. As long as it’s cold, not too sweet, and quenches my thirst, I’m happy. And if you’re ever in Boston, don’t go wastin’ your money on all that fancy stuff. Just find a good, plain iced tea and enjoy it. That’s what I say.
And listen here, if you see a special like Coconut Braised Chicken or Lychee Hibiscus Iced Tea, you go get it! Someone told me they’re real good, so it must be true! I don’t know what a Lychee is, but if it makes the tea taste good, I’m all for it.
So that’s the long and short of it. Iced tea is iced tea, no matter how you slice it. Just make sure it’s good and cold, and you’ll be alright.
